Good afternoon. I just recently started to research the genealogy of my family. I was able to get as far back as William P Arnold who was born in Rhode Island in or around 1800. I do know that he was married to Almy G Arnold and had 5 children Benji I, Harriet J, Ann I, Thomas and William B (who would be my great-great-great grandfather). William B appears to be the last member of my family to be born in Rhode Island (the family later moved to Illinois and then to California).
I am hoping you can direct me to some resources that I might be able to go even farther back than William P Arnold. It is my belief that he is a direct descendant of William Arnold (of Illchester, Somerset England) who was a founding settler of Rhode Island. I just need a little nudge in closing that nearly 200 year gap!

I am a desendant of George W Lanphere (1786 who was born in Rhode Island) and Married to Hannah Haskins. His son, Nimrod..odd yes. was born 1817-1903 in Almond, Allegany New York and died in Bell Run, McKean co, Penn. Any of this sound familia to you?

I do not see your George in my tree, but I haven’t really followed all the lines that far forward. Likewise, I have no Haskins. I happen to have a completely separate line of Baldwins who lived for a while in Allegany County, NY.
I got a lot of good help on the earliest 3 generations from the four articles in The New England Historic Genealogical Register by Scott Andrew Bartley. I hope you have had a chance to explore them; if not, I’ll send you the citations. My guess is that YOUR George is a cousin of my Russell Senior; I do not believe he was a brother. Many of my Russell Jr.’s siblings headed out to New York State, but I think Russell Jr. had no interest in farming; he was a machinist. There are some BAD sources and trees out there about the Lampheres, unfortunately, and most of my line I have constructed myself, and I have a lot of holes. Would be happy to compare notes further of you like. all the best
